Gyeonggi
Business Centers (GBC) are recruiting companies to participate in the
overseas marketing agency project. The 2015
G-FAIR Shanghai last year took full advantage of GBC Shanghai
s expertise and invited numerous proven buyers interested in Korean
products, leading to a number of successful contracts.

Gyeonggi Business
Centers (GBC) established in overseas markets of considerable export potential
are recruiting companies to participate in the
overseas marketing agency project.

The overseas
marketing agency project engages local experts at GBC offices to act on behalf
of small and medium businesses that are having difficulties exploring overseas
markets on their own and support them throughout the process from finding
buyers to signing contracts. The project provides a wide variety of support
such as having GBCs participate in major local exhibitions on behalf of
businesses for free, and showcasing samples at the exhibition booths setup by
GBC offices.

The overseas
marketing agency project is open to manufacturing companies with headquarters
or factories in Gyeonggi Province. Companies can apply throughout the year at
EGBIZ (
www.egbiz.or.kr), a web portal offering information to support
small and medium businesses.

Six GBCs in five
countries are accepting applications including offices in Mumbai, Moscow, Kuala
Lumpur, LA, Shanghai, and Shenyang. Each region will select 20 companies;
therefore, a total of 120 companies will participate in the project.

The biggest
advantage of this project is that local experts at the GBC offices with
in-depth knowledge about local customs and businesses meet directly with buyers
and refer them to companies in Korea. Additionally, one officer is assigned to
roughly five companies. Such close support leads to better success rates when
it comes to winning contracts.

The six GBC offices
conducted overseas marketing for 111 companies last year, which led to USD 20
million (approximately KRW 24 billion) in export contracts.

In particular, Bars
Korea, a shaved ice machine manufacturer in Bucheon, signed an MOU last May
with N Group in Malaysia, an exclusive importer of Kia Motors into the
Malaysian market. Apart from importing automobiles, N Group is involved in the
resort, wedding, and restaurant business. Based on its agreement with Bars Korea,
it launched a new shaved ice business named
Be K.

In addition,
Myunnara Foods, a rice noodle producer in Gwangju City, was focusing
exclusively on the domestic market with no employees familiar with the
fundamentals of international trade, export procedures, or foreign languages.
However, it received close support from a local staff member at GBC. GBC staff
offered interpretation and translation services and followed Myunnara on local
business trips to help find buyers and secure contracts. As a result, Myunnara
was able to sign a contract with Chinese giant B Group and it is currently selling
products in a premium market.

Gyeonggi Province
International Trade Division Director Go Bong-tae said,
Using GBC offices with their
ample local knowledge and experience in China is a way to maximize the effects
of the Korea-China FTA.
Go added, We plan to open GBC offices in Guangzhou and Ho Chi Minh, markets that
small and medium businesses wish to enter, by March so we encourage you to use
them.
