Gyeonggi Province
is currently recruiting small and medium businesses to participate in the 2016
G-FAIR Mumbai, a key trade fair for outstanding Korean products geared for securing
new sales opportunities in the Indian market for small and medium businesses
across Gyeonggi Province.
The 2016 G-FAIR
Mumbai, supported by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and led by the Gyeonggi
Small & Medium Business Support Center (GSBC), will run for two days from
May 18 to 19 at the Sahara Star Hotel in India. Gyeonggi Province is currently
recruiting 80 small and medium businesses to join the exhibition.
Celebrating its eighth
annual event this year, G-FAIR Mumbai is an exclusive exhibition held in India
through GBC Mumbai, an office managed by Gyeonggi Province for Korean
businesses. A total of 72 companies participated in last year’s G-FAIR Mumbai, which led to USD
207 million in consultations.
India is a hub that
connects the economic sphere in Southwest Asia with the global economy. In
2016, it’s economic growth rate is
expected to exceed that of China and take a leading global position. Such rapid
economic growth in India is regarded as a long-term phenomenon reflecting a
paradigm shift in the Indian economy rather than a temporary boom stemming from
cyclical changes in the economy.
In particular, a
variety of economic policies implemented since Prime Minister Modi took office
in 2014 – including ‘Make in India’, a policy aimed at developing the Indian manufacturing industry, ‘Digital India’, aimed at promoting the IT
industry, ‘Clean India’, aimed
at improving health and hygiene, and ‘Smart City’, aimed at improving urban infrastructure – are expected to provide numerous export
opportunities to small and medium businesses in Gyeonggi .
Small and medium businesses
with headquarters or factories in Gyeonggi Province can apply to take part in 2016
G-FAIR Mumbai. Applications can be made online at the EGBIZ website (www.egbiz.or.kr) until 6:00pm, February 3. For more information,
please contact the Export Operations Team at the Gyeonggi Small & Medium
Business Support Center (031-259-6134, 6139).
Gyeonggi Province
International Trade Division Director Goh Bong-tae said, “We hope we can use G-FAIR
Mumbai as a base of operations for entering not only the Indian market but also
the African and Middle Eastern markets, where global investors in the
manufacturing business can be found.” Director Goh also
asked for continued interest.
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi
Province is planning to host three more G-FAIRs, bringing the total up to six
events (Tokyo, Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh, Shanghai, and Shenyang) this
year, in order to stimulate exports.
