Gyeonggi Province
will provide grants to villages that install new and renewable energy equipment
beginning this February.
This project aims
to reduce the financial burden on homes that install solar photovoltaic, solar
heat, geo-thermal, and fuel cell equipment. It will move forward in tandem with
the 2016 New and Renewable Energy Housing Support Project of the Korea Energy
Management Corporation.
Grants apply to
villages with a minimum of ten households residing in the same administrative
district (ri or dong). Apartments and multi-unit dwellings are included. Islands
without bridges connecting them to other islands or the mainland can apply for
the grant if the island village has five or more households.
With regards to
solar photovoltaic equipment, detached houses can receive from KRW 670,000 to
KRW 800,000 (KRW 800,000 to KRW 960,000 for island regions), and multi-unit
dwellings can receive up to KRW 800,000 per building (KRW 960,000 for island
regions).
For solar heat
equipment, flat plate and vacuum tube-type equipment can receive KRW 380,000 to
KRW 580,000 per heat collection area (㎡) (KRW 460,000 to KRW 700,000 for island regions), and
natural circulation-type water heaters (6㎡ class) can
receive KRW 2,620,000 per unit (KRW 3,140,000 for island regions).
Geo-thermal
equipment (vertical closed-loop type) can receive KRW 500,000 to KRW 660,000
per kilowatt (KRW 600,000 to KRW 790,000 for island regions), and fuel cells
(up to 1kW) can receive up to KRW 21,990,000 per kilowatt (KRW 26,390,000 for
island regions).
Gyeonggi Province
will accept applications from February 1 to 24; applications can be submitted via
the energy departments in each city or county. The provincial government will
assess the project proposals submitted through each city and county and rank
them in order to offer the grants.

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi
Province is planning a public competition for energy self-sufficient villages
to reduce energy costs in regions with poor energy infrastructure, including
farming and fishing villages as well as mountainous regions, and to improve the
welfare of those villages. This project will support six villages in five
cities and counties (Pyeongtaek, Osan, Goyang, Paju, and Yeoncheon) that will
be selected based on the results of a demand survey conducted during the second
half of 2015.
