With the cold winter on its way out, people from all walks of life
are offering a helping hand to marginalized individuals and minorities in our
communities. Among those helping hands, some are offering a fundamental
solution rather than just monetary support to help marginalized groups stand on
their own feet.

Gyeonggi Province is accepting applications for Green PCs of Love
for 2016 in order to reduce the information gap between ordinary people and
marginalized groups within our province. Shall we take a closer look?

What
is a Green PC of Love?

Since essential living information and benefits are transmitted online,
a gap in information can directly affect the lives of marginalized groups in
our society. Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province takes donated second-hand PCs from
public organizations, fixes any problems they may have, and offers them for
free as “Green PCs of Love” in order to reduce the information gap often experienced by marginalized
groups. 

For 2016, Gyeonggi Province is accepting applications for 1,470 Green
PCs. Please refer to the information below for more details. Your interest in and
support for the program would be most appreciated. 

※Technical specifications of PCs

Hardware (CPU Core 2 Duo or above, Memory 4GB, HDD 320GB or above, LCD monitor 17 inches or above)

Software (MS Windows 7, Hancom Office 2014, Vaccine_Al Yac, etc.) 

Apply for your Green PC of Love

1. Application period: March 14 to 18 (Monday to Friday), 9:00am to 6:00pm,
2016

2. Eligibility: Membership in an information minority group with a
registered address within Gyeonggi Province, and not a previous recipient of a
Green PC of Love since January 1, 2015.

– Individual: Disabled, beneficiary of basic livelihood security,
near poverty groups, person of national merit/disabled veteran(level 1-7),
single parent family, multicultural family, North Korean refugee, parentless
children, etc.

– Group: Non-profit organizations including disability welfare
facility, social welfare organization, etc.

3. Application method

– Online application: Apply via website for Green PC of Love (https://lovepc.nia.or.kr)

– Offline application: Apply via fax or post

※ Required documents: Application form (including Release of Personal
Information) and other documentary evidence

※ Documentary evidence: Disabled, recipient of basic livelihood
security, single parent family certificate; administrative information will be
shared for people of national merit

If you sign the ‘Agree/Decline’ section, you do not have to
submit documentary evidence (Groups must submit a copy of the Unique
Registration Number Certificate)

4. Application results: Successful applicants will notified via
text messages at 2:00pm on April 18 (Monday), 2016 (applies to selected
applicants only)

– Selection method: ① Order of application ② Eligibility
(Gyeonggi resident, marginalized group, overlapping benefits, etc.) will be
reviewed for selection

※ Gyeonggi Province will supply individuals with 1 unit per household
while it will the number of units supplied to groups will be determined through
a review of the number of people and objectives. 

5. Supply period: May to August, 2016 (4 months)

※ Supply schedule can change depending on the collection and maintenance of second-hand PCs

Important
information and application documents for Green PCs of Love

– Event may end earlier if there are more applicants than
expected.

– Please notify the official responsible for Green PCs of Love if
your contact information or address changes.

– If you apply via post (registered mail), your application will
be accepted if it is processed by the last day of applications (6:00pm).

※ Applications received by post or fax after the application period
will not be accepted.

So
far, we have looked at the Green PCs of Love project aimed at reducing the
information gap experienced by marginalized groups.

We
