Five cities and provinces Gyeonggi,
Seoul, Incheon, Gangwon, and North Chungcheong
have joined forces to attract
Southeast Asian tourists.

The five aforementioned 2nd-tier
governments, along with the Singapore and Kuala Lumpur branches of the Korea
Tourism Organization (KTO), will host two joint FIT (Free Individual Travel) events,
focusing on the
New discovery of Korea, five metropolitan cities and provinces on July 14 and 16 with one event in each city.

Through these fairs, the
participating regions will promote their key tourism contents as well as a wide
range of attractions and activities accessible via public transportation to target
audiences in Singapore and Malaysia, countries in which FIT interest is on the
rise.

Gyeonggi Province will
introduce tourist destinations such as Camp Greaves where parts of Descendants of the Sun was filmed, as

information pertaining to recommended courses will be offered during these
sessions. Korean food events will be held in order to encourage audience affinity
with Korean culture.

Recruitment results from both KTO
branches, undertaken through SNS and their websites, showed that more than 220
people (more than the maximum capacity for both regions) submitted applications.
Of particular note, Malaysia has shown significant interest with more than 130
people applying in just three days, leading to the early closure of the application
period.

costs and maximized the advertising effects

the fact that the five metropolitan cities and provinces are closer than people
think and that they are even more exciting as travel destinations.
