On the morning of July 20,
Gyeonggi Province hosted a conference for public officials from five countries – the Philippines,
Cameroon, Ghana, Mongolia, and East Timor – on the future vision and
key projects of the NEXT agricultural administration of Gyeonggi Province at
the provincial
government complex.
The public officials come from
five countries and are currently enrolled in agricultural master degree courses
at Konkuk University as part of an official development assistance (ODA)
program of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The conference
was held in response to a request from the officials who wanted to study the NEXT
Gyeonggi agricultural vision of leading agricultural household income that
Gyeonggi Province announced this past May.
During the conference,
Gyeonggi Province introduced nine key projects for the NEXT Gyeonggi
agricultural administration and its objectives including: the provision of safe
food; the establishment of the ‘DaFarm’ platform; and the improvement of agricultural
household income. The foreign public officials were particularly interested in
new agricultural administrative projects promoted by Gyeonggi Province such as
venture corporations for agricultural food products, and the ‘Ddabok’ future farm.
Andrew, a regional development
corporation official of Cameroon, said, “Agricultural
administration in Cameroon remains focused on increasing production volume
while Gyeonggi Province focuses on producing safe high quality food, improving
the distribution structure based on contracted farming, and stimulating the
sixth industry. This is all very impressive.”
Gyeonggi Province Agricultural
& Maritime Administration Bureau Director General Kim Geon-jung said, “The conference gave us a
chance to enhance our image and promote the excellence of Gyeonggi Province’s agricultural
administration among developing countries.” Kim added “We will continue to use
the NEXT Gyeonggi agricultural administration initiative to improve the
competitiveness of our agriculture and our agricultural communities, and also
to produce safe food.”
The foreign public officials
attending the ODA program will cooperate with the National Agricultural
Cooperative Federation’s regional headquarters in Gyeonggi Province to
participate in work placements (internships) at Yeoju RPC and Icheon Dodram
Pork during the one-month summer holiday period.
