Once again, Iraqi public officials will visit the Gyeonggi Provincial Human
Resource Development Institute to study Korea’s advanced development
and strategic planning experiences.
On August 22, the Gyeonggi
Provincial Human Resource Development Institute announced that it will host a capacity
building program for development and strategic planning from August 23 to
September 2 for 15 planning department public officials of the Iraqi
government.
Gyeonggi Provincial Human
Resource Development Institute Director Kim Won-seop said, “I hope this becomes an
opportunity to build the capacity of Iraqi public officials and further the
friendly cooperative ties between Iraq and Korea.”
Being held for the third time
following previous sessions in 2013 and 2015, this training program will help
Iraqi officials study Korea’s development strategies including Korea’s socio-economic
development.
In addition, students will visit public venues for development and strategic planning
such as Pangyo Techno Valley and the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation
Center as well as industrial sites for global corporations such as Samsung and
SK.
Through this program, Iraqi
officials will better understand the current status and issues of their own
country’s
development and the government’s socio-economic development policies. They are
also expected to develop an action plan for development and strategic planning through
lectures, discussions, and on-site visits.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Human
Resource Development Institute has been working with KOICA to provide global
training programs to officials of developing countries each year since 2010.
The Iraqi government dispatched 13 public officials in 2013 and 19 in 2015 to the
Gyeonggi Provincial Human Resource Development Institute for the central
administration development program.
