With its opening ceremony just around the corner on
September 22, the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival continues its

The 8th DMZ
International Documentary Film Festival, which gets under way on September 22,
is garnering considerable interest.
On September 20, the Gyeonggi
Provincial Government announced that the DMZ International Documentary Film
Festival (Organizing Committee Chairman Nam Kyung-pil, Executive Committee
Chairman Cho Jae-hyun, hereinafter ‘DMZ Film Festival’) that will run from
September 22 to 29 is continuing to sell out all tickets.
This year’s DMZ Film Festival will
screen 116 documentary films from 36 countries. To date, more than 3,500
tickets have been sold in advance and tickets have been sold out until the 14th screening session.
In particular, this year’s festival is earning
more interest from families thanks to a reinforced ‘Docufamily’ section that will
screen short animated documentaries and more that can be enjoyed together with
children.
Sold-out films include The Cat that Lived a Million Times
(September 29, Baekseok Megabox), recommended by singer/song writer Yozoh,
Docufamily 1 (September 28, Baekseok Megabox) which features a string of short
documentaries that families can enjoy, Docufamily 3 (September 29, Baekseok
Megabox), a student group screening program called DMZ Docs EDU, and more.
Executive Committee Chairman
Cho Jae-hyeon said, “The films featured in the ‘Docufamily’ section at the DMZ
International Documentary Film Festival will change people’s previous views that
documentaries are difficult.” Cho added, “I hope many families
discover the educational value of documentaries through this film festival, and
I hope it gives them a good opportunity to continue watching documentaries.”
