trails across the country by a committee organized by the Ministry of the
Interior

Eight bicycle trails in
Gyeonggi Province, most beloved by people in the metropolitan area, have been
selected among ‘the most beautiful bicycle trails in Korea’. 

According to the Gyeonggi
Provincial Government on September 21, eight bicycle trails across the province
including trails near the Namhangang River and Bukhangang River (total length
of 158km) were selected among the ‘Top-100 Beautiful Bicycle Trails You Cannot Miss in
Korea’. 

The Ministry of Interior developed
the ‘Top-100
Beautiful Bicycle Ttrails’ project to stimulate the surrounding areas and to encourage
bicycling in the autumn through the domestic and international promotion of
excellent riding spots in Korea.  

In particular, the selected trails
include courses such as: ‘Couple Courses’ that families and
couples can enjoy as an easy day trip; ‘Tourism Courses’ featuring numerous tourist
destinations famous for local delicacies and other attractions; ‘Health Courses’ close to city centers that
help people enjoy bicycling as well as recuperation; and ‘Cross-country Courses’ intended for cycling
enthusiasts that allow people to enjoy cross-country routes. 

Courses in Gyeonggi Province
selected among the Top-100 beautiful bicycle trails include: Namhangang-gil/Daeseong-ri
→ Ungil-san Station → Paldang Dam, 27.6km (couples, cross-country,
health, tourism); Bukhangang-gil/Gapyeong 2 gyo → Namiseom Island Quay → Gapyeong Station, 7.3km (tourism); Namhangang-gil/Bukhangangcheolgyo
Bridge → Ipobo Reservoir, 33.1km (tourism);
Namhangang-gil/Pasaseong Fortress → Gangchunseom Island, 30km (cross-country, tourism);
Guri Wangsukcheon Waterside Park (Donggurueng) → Guri Hangang Park, 16.35km (tourism); Paju Imjingang-gil
Bangujeong → Hwaseokjeong, 12.1km (tourism);
Paju Gongneungcheon, 22.35km (health); Suwon Wangsong Lake Park → Gosaekgyo Bridge, 9.2km (health). 

The Ministry of the Interior will
publish a guide to the ‘Top-100 Beautiful Bicycle Trails’ for distribution to
community centers, travel agents, and tourism information booths. The ministry will
also promote the bicycle trails using online platforms such as SNS accounts as
well as the Korea Tourism Organization’s homepage. In addition, a ‘Beautiful Bicycle Road Trip’ will be hosted for
travel journals and photo contest events.  

Gyeonggi Province Construction
Safety Division Director Lim Chang-won said, “We expect these
beautiful bicycle trails in Gyeonggi Province to help stimulate tourism and the
local economies in which trails are located while also helping increase income
for Gyeonggi residents.” Lim added, “The Gyeonggi Provincial
Government will do its utmost to promote our beautiful bicycle trails by
distributing guides and posting information online.”
