The ‘2016 Gyeonggi Pet Festival in Bucheon’, a place to learn everything about pets, gets under way from
10:20am on October 16 at the plaza in front of Bucheon City Hall.
With more than ten million pets in the region, this year’s event seeks to establish Gyeonggi Province as home to a pet
culture without abandoned pets. The event is hosted by the Gyeonggi Provincial
Government and supervised by the Gyeonggi Veterinary Medical Association.
The
event will feature programs with veterinarians including: pet culture classes;
a free pet health clinic; pet dog races; dog agility demonstrations; Frisbee events
and more.
Apart
from these activities, the event will also feature booths for; a pet courtesy
class; the pet food, snack, and products market; a free pet beauty corner; and
a rabies vaccination corner as well as various campaign events such as the promotion
of an animal registration system and abandoned animal support.
Among
all the events, the pet dog race will be divided into three categories – small,
medium, and large dogs – over a 50m course. Everyone can participate if they
apply in advance.
Those
who wish to participate in the festival can apply via the Gyeonggi Veterinary
Medical Association website (gvma.or.kr). All participants will receive a
small souvenir.
Gyeonggi
Province Animal Quarantine Division Director Kim Sung-sik said, “This event will be an
opportunity to create a happy Gyeonggi Province in which people and animals coexist.” Kim added, “We ask for your interest and
participation if you love pets.”
Gyeonggi
Province previously hosted the Gyeonggi Pet Festival on the grounds of the (former)
Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency in Manan-gu of Anyang City during the first
half of 2016; this event received more than 3,000 visitors.
For
more details on the event, please call the Gyeonggi Veterinary Medical
Association (031-242-0258).
