1. The charm of the Gwangmyeong Cave International Fantasy Festival! ‘Watch a fantasy movie in a cave!’
It’s already exciting to just think of watching a fantasy movie in Gwangmyeong Cave, which is more charming than any other movie theater.
The new event starting this year, the ‘Fantasy Movie Festival’ of the cave, will run from October 22 to 23 in the Lascaux Exhibition Hall and feature an extended trilogy of the Lord of Rings, War Craft, Mad Max: Fury Road, and other titles. Some short films are also being screened in the Gwangmyeong Upcycle Art Center on October 24, and in the Cave Art Center from October 25 to 28.
2. The Charm of the International Fantasy Movie Festival in a Cave! ‘2016 Gwangmyeong Cave International Fantasy Movie Competition”
If you are interested in the fantasy worlds of movies or novels, seeing fantasy designs in real-life would be an ideal source of inspiration.
During the competition, 187 concept design entries and 70 short film entries that were submitted during the three-month period from July 1 to September 30 are being evaluated for awards. Through the final assessment on October 26, the final winner will be determined! The finalist entries will be screened in the Gwangmyeong Cave Fantasy Weta Gallery for three months.
3. The Charm of the International Fantasy Movie Festival in a Cave! ‘2016 Gwangmyeong Cave International Fantasy Academy’
In order to train a professional workforce in the fantasy contents sector and cultivate illustration and concept design experts, as well as to invigorate fantasy contents production for such projects as movies, dramas, games, animations, and comics, Gwangmyeong City has been staging this program in cooperation with Weta Workshop of New Zealand since 2014. During this year’s festival period, the world-class visual designs of Weta Workshop, who participated in the making of the Lord of Rings will again be visiting Gwangmyeong City and holding a global academy to teach various aspects of visual design themselves!
