2017 Jaraseom Makgeolli Festival

The 2017 Jaraseom Makgeolli Festival – an event that aims to boost the value of makgeolli, a processed rice product, and to connect it with camping culture – will be held in Seodo of Jaraseom Island, Gapyeong County, from September 1 to 3.
During this event, different kinds of makgeolli produced by more than 80 of the most renowned distilleries in Gyeonggi Province will be tasted and sold. In addition, delectable side dishes to accompany makgeolli – such as buchimgae, galbi and chicken skewers from Gyeonggi Province – will be sold.

A camping zone will also be set up to promote makgeolli as a drink that fits well in camping trips. The camping zone may be used after making a reservation through the official website of the Jaraseom Makgeolli Festival (www.makfe.co.kr).
Other events including 1970s and 1980s guitar performances, an inter-regional camping food contest, a makgeolli concert, a DJ party, a sing-along contest and an international tradition and culture performances are also scheduled.
Moreover, many makgeolli-related events and food tastings, including a makgeolli beauty experience, makgeolli steamed bun making, a makgeolli drinking contest, a kettle-crushing contest, a makgeolli-filled balloon toss and a makgeolli quiz show, as well as fighting power measurement, an obstacle course, a balloon toss and the Jaraseom Water Park zone will be offered for visitors to enjoy.
Makgeolli characters and a makgeolli photo zone displaying more than 130 different makgeolli bottles from all over the country will enable visitors to leave the festival with fun, memorable photos.
For the duration of the event, the Nationwide Jaraseom Makgeolli Festival Train will be operated by KORAIL and feature events such as makgeolli storytelling and makgeolli tasting. Those who purchase admission tickets to Nami Island (KRW 10,000) may use the ferry connecting Jaraseom and Nami Island free of charge.
