Provincial Governor Hak-kyu Sohn Visits Center of Logistics, the Netherlands and Meets Northern Holland Governor

Provincial Governor Hak-kyu Sohn visited the Samsung Electronics Europe Logistics B.V. and observed local facilities on the 29th (local time). Sohn visited and had an on-site inspection of the facilities of the Rotterdam Harbor on the 30th. During his visit, Sohn surveyed major facilities in the Netherlands that is known as the worldwide logistics country.
Sohn encouraged the efforts of Korean laborers working at Samsung Electronics Europe Logistics B.V. and Hankook Tires logistics base. He also stressed that the only way Korea can grow into the metropolis of northeast Asia in the 21st century, is to become a logistic strong country. He expressed his strong support to develop Pyongtaek Port and northern Gyeonggi district into a center of logistics.
The Netherlands is a small country that is half the size of South Korea (about 42,000km²) and has a population of only 16.52 million. Small, but is the 8th most active country of international trade (Korea : 12). This visit to logistic facilities in the Netherlands is to benchmark their technology and experiences.
Provincial Governor Hak-kyu Sohn also visited northern Holland, sister district with Gyeonggi-do, and discussed about active interchanges between the two districts on communication, information, electronics and other high-tech industries and also port logistics. He requested cooperation and advertisement to encourage investments in Gyeonggi-do and the for Gyeonggi-do enterprises to advance into the Netherlands market.
And in Amsterdam, Sohn contracted with Witzenmann to build a metal bellows factory on a building site of 13,000m² within the Eoyeon-Hansan Industrial Complex in Pyongtaek and in this contract Witzenmann will invest about 12 million dollars until late this year.
President of Witzenmann, Dr. Floeck Gerhard explained in a meeting about future business plans in Korea that Witzenmann Korea will be the Asian headquarters generalizing China, Japan, Thailand and Taiwan, and also the core base combining production, procurement and R&D.
