Gyeonggi-do is promoting to exploit a new market for the agricultural industry in the province by enhancing export to foreign markets and scouting and supporting exportable farm produce.

To achieve this, the province has intensified overseas marketing by participating in international exhibitions and dispatching market cultivators. All efforts are carried out by the professional consulting of export experts of foreign buyers and technical experts.

Through these diversified efforts to enhance export, Gyeonggi-do’s export of farm produce has increased greatly, converting the domestic based agricultural industry to an export agricultural industry.

Popular export products are ginseng, seasoned laver, Kimchi, tea, pears, orchids, cactus, paprika and so on.

In addition, the province is promoting the export 250 tons of pears through multinational distribution industries such as Carrefour. An export contract of $27 million has already been attained through overseas marketing activities in an exhibition.

Gyeonggi-do has achieved a total of $27 million last year – $7 million in 7 overseas marketing exhibitions, $13 million in 7 international exhibitions and $7 million by dispatching 4 market cultivator groups. With the consulting support from foreign buyers and from technical and export experts, 21 export corporations and also technical experts have been invited twice. Export of pears to France and tomatoes to Japan sums up to $ 630 thousand.

Gyeonggi-do is planning to support an optional custom agricultural industry to produce and export high quality farm produce and also build a production system for farm produce high in quality and price competitiveness. Foreign buyers and technical experts will be invited continuously to achieve Gyeonggi-do’s export goals.
