51 social welfare organs will be expanded and improved until 2006
Social welfare organs will be built in each city and district in Gyeonggi-do until 2006.
Currently, there are 39 social welfare organs established and in operation in 15 cities and districts in the province, but other 16 cities and districts have no facilities up to now. Thus a plan to construct social welfare organs for each city or district until the year 2006 is being carried out.
Social welfare organs will be newly built in Hwaseong-si and Yangpyeong-gun and an addition facility in Ansan-si will also be built. Construction costs of 2.985 billion Won for these 3 buildings will be supported at the expense of national and provincial expenditure.
National and provincial expenditure of 1.91 billion Won is invested to construct facilities in Siheung-si and Hanam currently. And at the expense of provincial expenditure, 2 billion Won each will be used for construction in Suwon and Gwangmyeong. This plan is to flawlessly carry through construction goals for 7 organs.
In addition, with the opening of 2 organs in Goyang and Anyang-si and the completion of one more in Siheung-si, a total of 42 social welfare organs will stand in Gyeonggi-do.
At this point of time when the role of social welfare is being emphasized, social welfare organs’ part of consulted and supporting welfare services to residents is expected to grow. Various programs will be developed to promote local welfare services.
Number of social welfare organs has increased by 39 buildings during last year, 42 this year and will be increased to 51 until 2006. And also, this year’s investment plan of 6.985 billion Won will be increased to 9.379 billion Won until the year 2006.
A provincial representative has explained that future plans include education opportunities on self-support and welfare programs for local residents will be provided. Organs will operate as general welfare centers to promote the health of its community and further plans will be actively supported.
