The 2003 Summer Universiade in Daegu is a sport festival for university students from all over the world.

Opening ceremony will be held for 2 hours after 6:30 PM, with athletes from both Koreas entering with the Korean peninsula flag. This event will revive the desire for unity and peace between the two Koreas, a sensation continued from last year’s Pusan Asian Games.

North Korean men’s volleyball team will be having a trial game with Denmark in the Daegu Indoor Gymnasium at 11 AM the very next day. The North Korean supporting party will be make the first public appearance at the match and is preparing to cheer with South Korean supporters.

About 7 thousand athletes from 174 countries, including both Koreas, will be participating and 185 gold medals for 13 events will be find their medalists during the 10 days of tournaments.
