On the 28th, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Jin-shik Yoon announced the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) takes highest concern is to support labor-management disputes in foreign invested enterprises.

Yoon made the engagement while exchanging opinions on current economic trends and management affairs of foreign invested enterprises at the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea (EUCCK) chairboard luncheon meeting at the Hotel Shilla.

EUCCK chairboard made a proposal that the investment environment must be changed to appetence with foreign enterprises by taking measures such as extending the sojourn period to expand investments and added Korea’s union-management relations is requires immediate attention at the meeting.

In response, Yoon said, “the government regards foreign investment induction as a policy issue” and “will settle an advanced union-management relationship that will not be a obstacle to extending foreign investment.”

He also added, “the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and other related parties take the labor-management dispute of foreign invested enterprises seriously and will specially support any measurements to relieve disputes” and he emphasized “a program is being planned to help give a better understanding to foreign officials on Korea’s labor-management situation.”
