Although Korea has concluded quarantine conditions after the last SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) hazard country proclaimed by the World Health Organization (WHO), Taiwan has been relieved from the epidemic since this year March, Gyeonggi-do is continuing thorough precautions in case of another outbreak. 

The survival of the SARS virus is yet unknown and from predictions of a high possibility of another outbreak later this year in China and other regions, and especially if there is another break out, infection growth is expected to continue till the first half of 2004. Apprehensions on the possibility of SARS occurring when other respiratory epidemic may occur are expected also. 

Gyeonggi-do will constructively cope with various matters, such as a establishing a SARS observation system during the winter time, isolation wards for patients and medical treatment, if the epidemic may strike again. 

The province’s Public Health Division will enforce guidance inspection on 6 medical facilities, Suwon, Uijeongbu, Pocheon, Icheon, Geumcheon and Anseong, for 4 days, from Sept. 16 to 19. 

The province will enforce joint inspection with health center managers when inspecting each center. Three health centers located in the second City Hall area will be inspected the provincial inspection team and also managers of the second City Hall and health center.
