Gyeonggi-do continues promoting high-grade livestock to extend a stable consumption basis to enhance quality competitiveness. 

To expand high-grade livestock products, ‘High-class Gyeonggi Korean Beef Cattle’ will be driven. 

Gyeonggi-do plans to financially aid 950 million Won to improve Korean beef cattle quality and enforcing 17,000 herd books, 28,000 artificial insemination, 500 fertilized transplantation and 6,000 DNA inspections. 

Bulls are castrated and 2.4 billion Won will be used to breed 12,000 heads of cows. Production of first grade Korean beef has increased from last year’s 23% to 27% this year and the province plans to yet increase this rate up to 40% until 2006. 

In addition, high-grade beef production complexes will be increased from 2 to 4 this year and up to 10 complexes until 2006 to upbring high-graded beef. 

Common Korean beef is sold 32,000 Won/1kg but high-quality brands such as beef from Gaegun, Yangpyeong is sold at 80,000 Won and Anseong beef by 55,000 Won. 

Another 700 million Won will be used to improve 46,680 heads of dairy cattle to produce high-quality milk and about 70,000 heads will be promoted until 2006.
