Kick-off Meeting held to Devise “Five-year Plan to Improve Living Environment for Foreigners”

A kick-off meeting was held at the Chosun Hotel on Oct. 7 (Tue.) to colligate difficulties in living conditions for foreign investors and to formulate a successive improvement plan. 
Under the superintendence of the head of the Trade and Investment Policy Office, about 40 people from working groups of 6 fields, education, health care, residence, transportation, culture and immigration, has participated the 2-hour meeting. 
The purpose of the meeting is because the living conditions for foreigners is significantly behind other Asian nations despite the rapid increase in foreign investment. 
The meeting was held according to the foreign investment comprehensive program settled in Sept. 2, to collectively and strategically improve living conditions for foreigners. 
The government has collected weak points submitted from a questionnaire research conducted by the Korea Investment Service Center, MOCIE and also those presented by many Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Korea. 
50 important problems from 6 fields – education, residence, transportation, immigration, health care and culture was chosen and is undergoing improvements.
