For 6 days from Oct. 18 to 26, the “Love for Cactus Exhibition” is held by cactus farmers at Goyang Cactus Experiment Station and Lotte Department Store (Ilsan). 

Cactuses are beautiful and mystical plants with its thorns in various shapes and colors. The unique shapes and sizes of cactuses are unlike another plants, making cactuses favorable among consumers. 

Cactus cultivation area in Gyeonggi-do takes up 52ha, which is also the chief producing district where 80% of cactuses are grown. About 3 million dollars worth of cactuses are exported to about 20 countries advanced in floricultural industry, such as the Netherlands, America and Canada, and this takes up 10% of Korea’s total floriculture export. 

Export of cactuses such as the Ruby Ball takes up 70~80% of the international cactus market. 

About 70 various cactuses, rare and valuable collected from around the world will be displayed at the cactus exhibition held in Lotte Department Store (Ilsan) from Oct. 18 to 23. The exhibition itself is prepared in themes such as lovers, birthday, promotion, celebrations and about 80 cactus related products will also be displayed. 

In addition, decoration cactuses that may be easily used in everyday life and moss topiary cactus for interior purposes decorations and also cactuses excellent in air purification are displayed to the public.
