China’s “Guangdongsheng Traditional Park” Recreated in Hyonwon Park, Suwon

The friendship agreement made between the provincial governor of Gyeonggi, Hak-kyu Sohn and the governor of Guangdongsheng, Hwa-hwa Hwang has finally been put to action. 

According to the Gyeonggi-do government, about 300 officials from both governments including both governors has be attended the ground-breaking ceremony of constructing a Guangdongsheng Traditional Park in Hyowon Park, Suwon, on Oct. 21. 

Both provincial governments have maintained friendly relations in various fields such as in culture and tourism, since 1996. The Traditional Park construction project has been begun last year when Sohn visited Guangdongsheng, China. 

Gyeonggi-do and Guangdongsheng has agreed on project scale and most suitable site through administrative work and in last July the Guangdongsheng inspection team has visited Gyeonggi-do and chosen Hyowon Park as the construction site for Guangdongsheng Traditional Park. 

The Chinese Traditional Park will be created as a Guangdong style park of about 2,000 pyeong and the Guangdongsheng Wonrimguk will take charge of the design. Technicians will also be dispatched from China and completion is aimed for the latter half of 2004. 

The Korean Traditional Park to be constructed within Guangdongsheng will be created in Wolsu Park, Guangdongsheng, China. The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization is currently inviting designs and construction is to be completed with the Guangdongsheng Traditional Park in 2004. 

The Traditional Park construction project propelled by both Gyeonggi-do and Guangdongsheng is expected to boost the mutual relationship between the two governments.
