Gyeonggi-do’s actual economic growth rate ranks No. 1 last year

According to the results of actual economic growth rates by city and provinces last year, Gyeonggi-do ranked first with a rate of 10.2%. 

In the total production report of 16 city and provinces of the year 2002, announced by the National Statistical Office today, last year’s total production costs added up to 581.5 trillion won, which makes the actual growth rate 6.2%. 

Gyeonggi-do takes first place with a 10.2% total production growth rate and Ulsan (9.4%), Chungbuk (8.5%) and Daegu (8.4%) followed in order. 

Total production scale per city and province show that Seoul (127.2 trillion won) and Gyeonggi-do (122.2 trillion won) is overwhelmingly higher than other regions. Gyeongnam (40.1 trillion won), Gyeongbuk (38.9 trillion won) and Busan (35.3 trillion won) follow with contrastive results. 

Total production of Metropolitan areas such as Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon takes up 47.7% of national production and has increased by 0.6% points compared to 2002, proving that the concentration trend in Metropolitan areas has not subsided.
