International School to be established and open in 2006 in Suwon

A new international school will be established in Suwon and open in August 2006.
A promotion plan for the establishment of the new international school will be made by the end of this month, according to the provincial government on Jan. 25. The plan will include ordering for inquiry services such as the appropriate institution scale.
The government has been promoting to establish san international school for about 300 students who are the children of alien workers working at Samsung Electronics and Samsung Semiconductor in Iui-dong, Suwon. This promotion is to make a better environment for businesses and also its workers in Gyeonggi-do.
Among the 30 billion won estimated as the budget for the establishment, about 10 billion won will be at the expense of the government and the remainder will be supplied by local funds.
A full education curriculum from preschool up to senior high school will be established and the school may be operated by either the Seoul Foreign School or Taejon Christian International School.
However, as the organization expenses for founding the Suwon International School is supplied by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE), MOCIE requests the presentation of the feasibility of establishing the school.
Also with the Suwon International School, another school tentatively named ‘Korea International School’ is being pushed to open in August next year in Bundang, Seongnam. The curriculum of this school also will include courses from preschool and up to senior high school.
The Korea International School will have accommodations for about one thousand students in the 8,600 pyeong site in Baekhyeon-dong, Bundang-gu. The school will be organized with 4 preschool classes, 20 elementary classes, 12 middle school classes and 16 high school classes.
