Walk for Your Health 2004 jointly-organized by Gyeonggi-do (Provincial Governor Sohn Hak-gyu) and the National Health Insurance Corporation (Park Tae-su) will take place in Subyeon-ro, Suweon Gwanggyo Reservoir and Gyeonggi University Athletic Field on October 30 (Sat). Approximately 5,000 provincial residents are expected to participate in this event.

JAMA report (AP report Sep. 22) says that light exercises such as a daily walk of 3km can lower the risk of Alzheimer in the old age. The event is designed to heighten public awareness about the risk of heart-related diseases, high blood pressure, hyperlipemia, diabetes, and cancer from the lack of exercise. The walk will be approximately 5km starting from Gyeonggi University Athletic Field round the Sanggwang Bridge Park through the Subyeon-ro, Gwanggyo Reservoir. The meet begins at 2pm on October 20.

Performances by military band and honor guard by Marine Corp, and Gyeonggi University Aerobic Team and MTB will be staged prior to the walk. Healthy Family Award Ceremony, Declaration against Obesity, Balloon Ceremony, and the walk will be followed by various entertainment programs.

FM99.9 broadcast will be joined by popular singers such as Rain, Tony Ahn (former member of HOT, singer of JTL), Drunken Tiger, Bobby Kim (Legend of Hip Hop), J, Shin Eun-jin & Wawa, and Rich with a comedian Kim Hyeon-cheol from Gyeonggi Media’s “Happy Time” as a host.

Participants will be able to measure their BMI, blood pressure, and blood sugar and receive workout advice at the Health Booth next to the Health Panel Exhibition.
