20 public officers from Liaoning Province, China, will learn Korean at Gyeonggi Provincial Officials Training Institute for four weeks from November 1 through 27.
During the training period, classes on economy, society, culture, and public officials system in Korea as well as the language. Special lectures on Gyeonggi-do’s main policy on corporate support and the need for Korea-China cooperation will be available as well.
Liaoning Provincial officials will also take field trips to Sangam World Cup Stadium, Haneul Park, Pyeongtaek Port, and Kia Motors in order to first-handedly observe cultural and economic development in Korea. On-site training will be held in Jeju Island, and backpack trips will be organized in the weekends.
Director Lee In-jae of the institute stated, “We will do our best to provide Liaoning Provincial officials with diverse experiences in Korean culture as well as the language training during the 4-week-training period.”
Gyeonggi-do and Liaoning Province became sister-cities in 1993 since which mutual exchanges have been carried out. Language training programs have been run based on the “Public Official Exchange Training Agreement” signed in April 2001. 19 Gyeonggi Provincial officials visited the Political Economics Academy in Liaoning Province for four weeks in June 2004 for Chinese language training.
