Gyeonggi-do ARES was selected as the nation’s best agricultural research institute of the year 2004 by Rural Development Administration. The award will be given out on December 28 by the administration director.
The award is given to two institutes – one central unit and one provincial unit – that realized the most superior research accomplishments. The province’s ARES and the National Institute of Crop Science were selected as the recipients in 2004.
Gyeonggi-do ARES devoted the year 2004 to 205 research projects, and 86 of them bore real results including 62 applications, 7 registrations for industrial property right, 12 strain registration, 4 farming equipment registrations, and one program.
Development of 12 new strains including Johyeon Adlay, 6 techniques such as hydroponics of vegetables that can be practiced in patios of condominium buildings, and mobile phone ring tone service designed to promote consumption of rice and beans/peas was understood to have had much contribution in agricultural research sector.
Building of five new research facilities including Advanced Agricultural Science Laboratory and organization of Agricultural Goods Stability Research Team as well as expansion of the research base were highly praised. Goyang Agricultural Technology Center will receive the Contribution Award for its accomplishment in development of site error technique.
