– The Province Completes Registration of 12 Copyrights for the English Village Program
The English Village Content will be provided to local governing bodies nationwide free of charge.
Gyeonggi-do’s English Village contents introduced as “Korea’s representative English education program” by international media bodies such as BBC, Washington Post, and Newsweek will be made available nationwide.
Ansan Camp of Gyeonggi English Village opened in August 2004 becomes crowded at 2pm every Tuesday with people on a field trip. They are mostly teaching staffs, university officials, and department of education employees from local governing bodies.
A civil official stated about the free provision of educational program contents that the province spent a considerable sum of time and cost, “Gyeonggi-do will offer information on the building know-how and management tips for English Villages that it has gained since 2002. This is to allow successful building of English Villages in other parts of the nation in an effective manner.”
The content recipients, however, will be selected through a review of the project promotion details to eliminate side effects caused from rushed business propulsion without the residential public consent.
Gyeonggi-do completed registration of 12 copyrights for English village program at the end of December 2004. Copyright is a property right on intellectual creation, and the registration of copyright entitles the creator legal protection from unauthorized use of the good.
The copyrights registered through Gyeonggi English Culture Foundation include authority over all educational programs such as the “5-night program” for 8th grade students, “4-week vacation camp,” and the “family weekend program.” The program was developed by Peel Board of Education of Canada and Korea Association of Teachers of English. It was reviewed and edited several times by 38 native-speaking teachers and 19 Korean teachers at the Ansan Camp of Gyeonggi English Village.
Gyeonggi-do is currently preparing for the opening of English Village in Paju and Yangpyeong in Marcy 2006 and February 2008, respectively.
