Gyeonggi-do supported the province’s SME participation in Internepcon World Japan 2005, Asia’s biggest electronics parts trade show, and it dispatched automobile parts manufacturers to Germany by strategically using the rising popularity of Korean automobiles in the European market to be returned by export consultations worth $38.27 billion among which $10.83 million was finalized as contracts.

Internepcon World Japan, a high-end IT equipments and electronics parts technology exhibition, took place between January 19 and 21. The industry leaders from different countries participated in the exhibition to put the most up-to-date trend in the front. 989 companies took part in the exhibition to which 57,000 persons took the visit.

8 semiconductor-related equipments and parts manufacturers from the province participated in the exhibition as the first representatives from Korea. They were highly praised for the superb technology and product quality that do not fall short to those of Japan. The exhibition will bring about synergetic effect to better the province’s industry.

Four automobile parts manufacturers were dispatched to Stuttgart, Berlin, Munich, Dortmund, and Dresden of Germany from January 13 through 20. The dispatched companies visited different buyers individually instead of running a group B2B meeting at a hotel. As a result, the companies were given opportunities to directly contact and meet the purchasing director and researchers of Robert Bosch, Bosch und Siemens, and other world-class buyers. 3-4 hours in-depth conversation incurred the export consultations worth $34 million accompanied by design blue prints and sample orders of which $10 million was realized in contracts.

A provincial official stated that Gyeonggi-do’s support for export by manufacturing companies is an effort to create jobs while vitalizing the local economy. Despite the tight budget resulted from the decrease in the provincial tax revenue, the overseas marketing support fund will be increased by approximately 20% in 2005
