Provincial Governor Sohn Hak-kyu of Gyeonggi-do was reported to about the KINTEX business promotion at the conference room of KINTEX at 1:30pm on February 17, 2005. Some 30 related officials including the mayor of Goyang City, KINTEX president, and personnel from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Energy and KOTRA attended this presentation. 

This event was designed to review details about the opening ceremony scheduled for April 29 of the exhibition center that had been built over the 200,000m2 land in Daehwa-dong of Goyang City since April 2003. 

The provincial governor congratulated efforts by related officials who have strived to build an outstanding establishment in two years since the groundbreaking for KINTEX through his opening remarks. 

He requested that all persons put forward their best to make the China Town and Sports Mall facilities within the establishment the hopeful model for local economic vitalization. KINTEX was to serve a lead role for Korea’s exhibition industry in joining the trend of globalization. He said that it would become the center stage of trade and information for Northeast Asia based on flawless business implementation through the end. 

KINTEX will be the biggest exhibition center in Korea featuring various amenities housed in a space 1.7 times bigger than COEX (120,000m2). It will house Korea’s Big 5 exhibitions including Seoul Motor Show (April 29 ~ May 8), Korea Electronics Show (October 12 ~ 16), Korea Machinery Fair (October 26 ~ 30), Kyunghyang Housing Fair (March 2 ~ 7, 2006), and Seoul International Machine Tool Show (April 12 ~ 17, 2006) following its opening on April 29.
