Gyeonggi-do has been pushing forward with alliance with Guangdong Province of China since the tourism exchange agreement was made on October 20, 2003. It dispatched the tourism industry representatives to Guangdong for the purpose of mutual development for five days on February 21.
Tourism between Korea and China has been considered a low-class product based on selective scanning and imposed shopping. Two provincial governments hope to break away from the distorted market environment by exchanging information about their tourism products for optimal comparison. It will offer high-quality tourist options to consumers from both regions while promoting product development in the industry.
Visiting delegates will be engaged in working-level meetings to promote tourism exchange between the two provinces, inspections of Guangdong tourism products, and marketing activities for tourist attractions in the culture, arts, entertainment, shopping, and ski sectors from Gyeonggi-do.
Gyeonggi-do – Guangdong Tourism Exchange delegates consisted of 16 industry representatives including the Visit Gyeonggi Year Business Team Director and President Lee Jong-dae of Gyeonggi-do Tourism Association.
President Lee Jong-dae of Gyeonggi-do Tourism Association stated, “This visit is intended to market the tourist products to Panmunjeom, Everland, ski resorts, and high-end industrial sites that Chinese public may be interested as well as to benchmark excellent tourism resources from Guangdong. We hope to facilitate the mutual development of the tourism industry in both provinces.”
