– Senior Welfare Innovation Forum in preparation for aging society – 

Gyeonggi-do will host the Senior Welfare Innovation Forum – Preparing for Aging Society with university professors, businesspersons, industry personnel, and city, district, county officers at GSBC Conference Room on May 31. Details for the forum were drawn out at the 1st preliminary debate on May 17. The 2nd debate will take place on May 24. 

The forum is intended to develop practical and effective welfare policy to benefit not only the 710,000 elderly population, but also the people from younger generation in the future. Policy options derived from the forum will be taken into consideration in legislative efforts. 

Gyeonggi-do organized the Senior Welfare Research Team with academic specialists, industry personnel, and civil officers with an aim to develop and promote senior welfare policy in preparation for rapidly aging society on May 12. The Team’s works are broadly divided into four tasks of domiciliary welfare, senior employment, welfare facility infrastructure, and funeral facility. 

The policy study will focus more on improving the existing statutes rather than drafting new ones to prevent excessive legislative abuse that can impair administrative efficiency. An overall review and assessment of existing businesses, improvement, and advancement-oriented policy will internally strengthen senior welfare system. 

The province hopes that such efforts will realize the goal of “Home of the Happy Elderly – Gyeonggi-do.”
