The provincial office will continue to push ahead with the campaign for planting 100 million trees (each person planting a tree every day for the next ten years) by 2012 so that local residents can live in a pleasant environment.
As part of such a campaign, the provincial office has pushed ahead with various projects designed to form parks and green areas, make roof tops green spaces, replace man-made fences with living hedges, and plant more trees along streets, with the budge of 17.1 billion won this year. The Gyeonggi Green Foundation was launched last March for the said purpose.
A Gyeonggi Provincial official said, “The campaign for planting 100 million trees is the part of the effort to let our children play and live in thick forests. All local residents are encouraged to participate in the effort to make the province a more pleasant and beautiful place to live in.”
