Gyeonggi Province’s Excellent Product Exhibition 2005 held in Malaysia is expected to be a success

On October 19, Gyeonggi Province’s Excellent Product Exhibition 2005 was held at the Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, attended by 80-plus representatives from 50 businesses in the province led by Vice Governor Kim Sung-shik, Malaysian International Trade Vice Minister Ahmad Hussni of Malay, relevant officials and business people. 

300 Malaysian and 150 Singaporean buyers made reservations for business negotiations with participating businesses from Gyeonggi Province. According to the officiprovincial office and KOTRA, the number of buyers visiting the event will come to 1,500. 

The opening ceremony was covered by five local broadcast stations, including state-run TV channels, TV1 and TV2 as well as leading local dailies, such as NST. At a press interview, local mass media asked questions concerning the background of holding the event and whether the event will be held every year. 

To such questions, Vice Governor Kim Sung-shik, who acts as the head of the delegation said, “We will decide whether to hold the event every year after reviewing relevant factors, such as the mutual trade relations between the two countries, the need for technological transfer, and the result of this exhibition.” 

Attending businesses from Gyeonggi expressed satisfaction with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office’s provision of support for exporting SMEs and meticulous preparations made by KOTRA’s offices in Gyeonggi and Kuala Lumpur. A Gyeognggi Provincial official said, “It is hoped that the event will serve as the basis for our expansion throughout Southeast Asia.”
