On February 1, Gyeonggi Governor Sohn Hak-kyu and EBS (Educational Broadcast Services) President Kwon Yeong-man signed a business alliance agreement at a ceremony held at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office. Under the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate with each other to help reduce parents’ burden concerning private education and train talented youths with global mindset by fostering the environment for provision of epoch-making English education service. 

Details of the agreement include mutual cooperation and exchanges for joint production and operation of programs, establishment of a first-rate English education brand, joint marketing and PR designed to enhance the operational efficiency, and collaboration for development and production of English contents. The two organizations plan to launch the Operation Committee to discuss detailed methods of mutual cooperation. 

With the signing of the agreement, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office will provide youths with diversified opportunities to enhance their English proficiency at both the Ansan Camp of the English Village and the Paju Camp newly opened on April 1 on the 84,000-pyeong (= 70 acre) site. The EBS, for its part, will provide high-quality English education contents both through its broadcast programs and the Internet site exclusively for English education to be opened in the first half of the year. 

Mr. Sohn Hak-kyu said, “I hope the business alliance made with the EBS will go a long way in bridging the “English Divide” caused by the difference in the level of parents’ incomes.”
