– Gyeonggi Green Foundation, recommends cherry blossom sights in downtown Gyeonggi-do
Cherry blossoms in full bloom are announcing the start of spring and during spring various cherry blossom festivals are held in many parts of Korea. It is true that people today are too busy with their daily life to take time traveling out. To bring spring to you, the Gyeonggi Green Foundation recommends admirable cherry blossom sites near you within the Gyeonggi province.
Lee Byeong-man, the Director of Administration of the foundation remarked, “these special sites will bring spring to family and friends, and let them forget about the plain city life.”
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration announced that this year’s cherry blossoms will bloom 5 days earlier than last year. The southern part of Korea will start to flower during 3/28~4/3, central part will bloom during 4/4~4/13, remote parts of the central inland will start to flower after 4/13.
With this prediction, cherry blossoms are expected to be in full bloom around the 4/4~4/8 in central Korea including Gyeonggi-do.
– Cherry blossom garden in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do
The cherry blossom garden attached to the Gyeonggi-do government office is located at the edges of Paldal Mt., Suwon. The scenery is more than enough to impress admirers. There are over 200 cherry trees all over 40 years old and variegated cultural festivals will be held for the occasion.
– Dodang Mountain Park in Bucheon
Every mid-April since 1999, the is held and this year the festival will be open from 4/15~4/16 for 2 days.
The cherry blossom site becomes more breathtaking after nightfall. Six colored night lights illuminates about 2000 cherry trees, all over about 30 years planted on both sides of the road, starting from the entrance up to the peak. The 1.8 km long park admission road is just the place to enjoy spring blooming with cherry blossoms in all directions. Sculptures and the culture park double the attraction.
Additional events during the festive term includes singing, children sketching contest, foreigner’s talent contest, Korean folk music, competitive performances, sports dance performance, singer performance, lottery and other events are prepared for visitors to enjoy. – Ho-am Museum, Yongin
About 100 Korean cherry trees with large cherry blossoms and looping branches are planted along starting from the entrance road up to 200 m of the waterside.

Gwangju City has planted over 3,000 cherry trees (over 20 years old) since 1997 along the road passing through Namhansanseoung.

– Avenue passing through Rural Development Administration, Suwon
Over 70~80 king cherry trees (30~50 years of age) are aligned across a roadside of 1 km. The sublime beauty of these old cherry trees and grand cherry blossoms complete a natural masterpiece.
– Crossroad in front of Gojan-dong Tax Office, Jeokgeumgol, Ansan
A cherry blossom road, 1.5 km long, in Jeokgeumgol gives off a fragrant flower scent from about 500 cherry trees grown over 20 years.
