– Gyeonggi-do achieves 100th inducement of high-tech foreign corporation after much hard work

Four years have passed since Governor Son Hak-gyu has been inaugurated, the 3rd governor of Gyeonggi-do to attain the office by popular vote, and his main priority has been to attract foreign investment. As a result, an additional investment agreement has been made with FCI, a leading French automobile parts company that had previously advanced into Hwaseong, succeeding in the 100th inducement.

Gyeonggi-do’s European high-tech corporation inducement team (chief: Governor Son Hakgyu) went to Europe to attract foreign investment from April 9 to 14, and on the 10th, succeeded in making the 100th agreement.

Since Governor Son has taken office, he has been on 19 overseas visits during his 3 years 9 months in service, and has held 130 negotiations and agreements with 150 CEOs and officials of major companies, finally to attain the 100th company and a total of 13.8 billion dollars in investments.

Governor Son has also met with 81 foreign company CEOs, a total of 58 times, which amounts to 2,430km on business trips within the province alone. In addition, employees have business trips abroad, totaling 43 trips and 64 countries of 587,974 miles. This equals 14 trips around the Earth.

The inducement team held a small on-location ceremony to celebrate winning the 100th investment at the Epernon factory in France with CEO Jean-Lucien Lamy and the staff, along with the mayor of Epernon.

FCI has an automobile and electronic parts connector manufacturing facility near the Hyundai research lab at Paltanmyeon in Hwaseong, and their sales are no.1 in the world in the Microconnections sector, no. 2 in the North American Electrical sector, and no. 3 in the Telecom sector, and no. 4 in the Automobile sector, which proves their international competitive power. Their main clients in Korea are five automobile companies and Samsung Electronics, LG Telecom, and KT.

Gyeonggi-do shared the 1.3trillion won expenses with the city of Hwaseong to construct a 4.5km water supply facility, and after FCI made their first visit to the Hwaseong factory in October 15, 2004, Gyeonggi-do was able to acquire their additional investment in 1 year and 5 months.
