Gyeonggi’s ‘Mentor Support Group’ had a kickoff in July opening a new horizon for volunteering service sector!

Gyeonggi province launched ‘Mentor Support Group’ on July 1, which directly links service-volunteering experts with the people in need. There are approximately 500 volunteers already registered in this voluntary service group: that is consisted of social welfare providers, voluntary service providers, and many service providers from various fields. Members and supporters of the group were finalized last May and have actually started its activities from June.

Not only voluntary service activities they provide, the group will also act as a friend, teacher, father and private coach for individual’s life. Local province puts a high expectation on this Mentor Support Group to build Happy Gyeonggi environment without any neglected.

9 programs are slated for implementation with this voluntary group’Happiest 6 months in my life’ to prevent any second offenses of teenagers who are currently in probation, by giving them an opportunity of meeting with the voluntary servants, participating in 1 night & 2 days trip, training for re-schooling and vocation and etc.,  ‘One world with no frontier’ to teach foreign labors the Korean language and other technical terminologies required while working in Korea,’Beautiful flight with single mother’ to raise self-esteem of single mothers and inspire them with a positive way of thinking through various lectures, presentations, visual education and etc.

As of July 1, having a launching ceremony at Gyeonggi Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center, Mentor Voluntary Group will start its new engine. With this as a momentum, Gyeonggi province will exert itself to cultivate more number of professional voluntary servants to be a great mentor, so to promote the spread of voluntary service activities throughout the nation.
