Figure skater, Kim Yeon-ah and other sport stars committed as publicity ambassadors for Gyeonggi-do

The Gyeonggi-do government has appointed 5 sports stars including world-top figure skater, Kim Yeon-ah as “Gyeonggi-do Publicity Ambassadors” on Sept. 20.

These publicity ambassadors includes last year’s figure winner of the 2005 World Junior Figure Skating Championship, Kim Yeon-ah, inline roller champion for 2 years in a row of the 2004 World Roller Speed Skating Championships, Kuok Chae-yi, gold medalist Hyun Hee of the 2002 Fencing World Championship, 1992 Barcelona Olympic weight lifter gold medalist Jeon Byeong-kwan, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athena Olympic archery gold medalist Yoon Mi-jin. 

Through these star athletes, Gyeonggi-do plans to stimulate the importance of physical education and make preparations for physical activities for residents. The government also expects expending the base of potential athletes.

These ambassadors will hold fan autograph events at various physical events and also actively participate in clinic events to instruct their techniques. As physical leaders, they will represent Gyeonggi-do’s dominant physical activities.

An official from the Gyeonggi-do government remarked, “Former and present national athletes of Gyeonggi-do will represent and enhance Gyeonggi-do’s athletic resources to the world. As publicity ambassadors, they will be role models for young, potential athletes.”
