Strengthened preventive program against Avian Influenza
Gyeonggi province stated that it will provide more intensified preventive measure against AI until February 2007 with an investment of KRW1 billion. 

Avian Influenza which becomes highly contagious in Nov. till Feb, next year will be specially controlled and prevented upon the fact the AI is continuously spreading out in the surrounding countries such as China, Thailand, and etc.

Local province introducing a special task force team for AI prevention, plans to initiate various preventive measures such as pre-inspection services, isolation of wild bird, provision of proper instruction to the farmhouse, and etc., with the local research institutions, community groups.

Mostly alerted areas with frequent visit of wild birds and civilian passage restriction line and etc. such as Ansan’s Sihwa lake, Namhan River at Yeoju, Namyang lake at Hwasung, Dumulmeori in Yangpyong, Limjingak in paju, Han river mouth of Goyang, Bukhan River in Pyeongtaek, and etc. will firstly be inspected for prevention. Also, the emergency contact line is to be formed with 58 persons of 4 teams at each region to provide early preventive measure and further protection services.  

Controlling manager will be allocated at each region that are vulnerable at AI such as Icheon, Yangju, Ansung, Pyeongtaek, Pocheon, Gimpo and etc. with previous experience of AI or many chicken breeding farmhouses, to have everyday inspection services and more tailored preventive program.

Every farmhouse, at all times, is to operate the fumigation system at the entrance and exit of the farmhouse. Also, Wednesday is designated as a Fumigation Day of a week which will demand more concentrated and strengthened disinfection program.

Extensive preventive sterilization will be provided more than once in a week for the chicken and duck crowded farmhouses with 67 fumigation vehicles of the local cities, research centers and etc. of Gyeonggi.

Local province warned that thorough sterilization for each day, securing of doors to protect farm animals with wild birds and etc. are to be strictly maintained.

“Single sign of AI must be reported to the related center immediately on this number of 1588-4060 so to prevent any further spread since AI is very easy and fast in communicating with others.”, said the official from Gyeonggi.

“Thorough inspection on chicken and duck food gives zero percentage of having infectious chicken or duck in the market.”, also added.
