US$14 million of investment to be raised between Gyeonggi and Japanese company, ULVAC

Governor Kim,Munsoo who is currently on a visit to Kanagawa in Japan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Imachi Ken, the President of ULVAC group on November 6.

Entering into this MOU, ULVAC group will be providing the parts to the domestic semiconductor manufacturers, LCD suppliers and etc. Also their new plant to be built at Hyungok of Pyeongtaek which will be completed in October starting from March next year will be able to raise 200 new work places for the local. For this, ULVAC is slated to invest approximately US$14 million.

There has been a very close relationship already made between ULVAC and Gyeonggi since year 2000. Back in the year 2000, ULVAC established their very first plants in Uyon and Hansan of Gyeonggi. Since then, ULVAC’s 4 other affiliated companies started entering into Gyeonggi and now there are 7 plants residing in Pyeongtaek and Paju with a total land size of 29,293 pyong and US$75.38 million of investment, which also contributed in creating jobs for 2,190 people.

Accompanied by Samsung Japan, Governor met with many of potential investors such as Japanese semiconductor makers, LCD providers and etc. This kind of Governor’s aggressive and highly interested manner towards foreign companies and industry gave them a very impression and left with a great expectation in raising investment into Gyeonggi.

“To utilize many of excelling human resources of Gyeonggi, we will try to have variety of foreign comers from many different high tech industries. Also, we will continue working hard to induce more foreign companies into Gyeonggi, so for us to grow our industrial competitiveness by having technology development and production at the same time in the same place.” said the official from the local province.

Also today, at a formal visit to Masujawa Shigehumi, the Governor of Kanagawa and Shiwei Kuo, the Vice Representative of Liaoning, Governor Kim mentioned and proposed to have a joint research on developing Environmental Friendly Agricultural Technology.
