Gyeonggi continue expanding ‘Self Environment Control Systemized Company’

Gyeonggi reported that the Self Environment Control System, which guides local company to have its own target for the environmental improvement, has proved itself to be very effective in improving the local environment.

Annual target for the increase of environmental improvement and the reduction of pollution will be set thru ‘Self Environment Control System’ upon the mutual discussion among local companies, residents and local government. To achieve the target, company will do its best to meet the target and resident and local government will implement an evaluation process to see how close the target is made.

Upon the evaluation took place in 2004 and 2005, local companies, since 2003, have achieved a great improvement in their competitiveness thru a green-wide management process and self evaluation process which resulted in reducing raw material and energy, using more of environment friendly products and etc. Extensive investments in the environment management business of the local companies have also contributed highly in deriving a practical use of new environmental technologies.

Local government anticipates that the domestically used regulation for the environment will be changed to the regulation which will limit the ‘total contaminated amounts’ like all the other developed countries are currently applying, from the regulation which only limits ’emission concentration’. Upon this, Gyeonggi will introduce a plan which will decrease the total contaminated amounts, not only the simple reduction of standard unit of the pollution.

Now Gyeonggi is waiting for an application from the companies at Ansan, Pyungtaek, and etc. who are known to be the polluter industrial companies to introduce Self Environment Control System, and this will be closed on Dec. 20. Simply submitting an application form to the Air Contamination Management Team of the local government(Tel: 031-249-3554) will only be needed to be part of Self Environment Control Systemized Company and each appointed companies will be able to implement a self inspection process which is taken regularly from once to 4 times upon the grade given to each different companies.

25 local companies including Samsung Electronics, KIA Motors, LG Cable and etc. are selected as a Self Environment Control Systemized company.
