‘Hangul and Korean Culture Class’for foreign residents
Gyeonggi province reported that it will open a special class for foreign work forces residing in Korea, teaching Hangul and Korean culture from February next year which will continue for 3 months.
This special program is to be provided to many foreign residents working in Korea, including foreign professors of provincial universities such as Kyunghee University, undergraduate and graduate students of such universities, technicians and management directors of the local enterprises such as Samsung electronics, English teachers of Gyeonggi English Village and many other local institutions, missionaries, executives of US Army forces and etc.
Apart from the above explained visiting class program, local province will also have an ‘Open Lecture’, which many other foreign work forces working in a company where is not much clustered with foreigners, other missionaries and ministers working individually and etc. will be able to participate. This special program will be held in the public institution located in Suwon on Dec. 30 and Jan. 20.
The program is constituted with many courses such as ‘Necessary Hangul to survive in Korea’, ‘Korean food, filial piety, tea etiquette, music’, ‘Let’s go to the Korea historic sites!’ and etc. With the courses to be selected by each company, which will be provided with 15 times of visit for 5 hours, each company will receive uniquely tailored program for their own. 7 local companies have already submitted an application form to have this program for their foreign workers. Any other companies wish to have the program provided or any foreigners wish to participate in the ‘Open Lecture’, it is International Commerce Department(249-2466-7) and Hwasung Research(226-7223) to contact.
“This program is targeted for the foreign work forces of various businesses in Korea such as education, management, religion and etc. who all are closely working with domestic residents. Learning the local language and local culture will aid in removing any difficulties or troubles they may have in living and working here. With this program we will support them to have a better life here in Geyonggi and we will also spread our great culture to the others.”, said the manager of the Gyeonggi’s Interchange and Commercial Relations Department.
