Gyeonggi Province to send a letter of condolences to its sister state, Virginia  

Kim Moon-soo, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, made a statement on April 18th of his grief regarding the incident that occurred at Virginia-Tech, and attempted to console American citizens.

In the statement, Governor Kim said, “It is even more tragic that it happened in our sister state, Virginia,” and added “We hope that America will heal quickly, and get through this sadness as soon as possible.”

In addition, Governor Kim also mentioned, “We hope that the damage and suffering that Virginia-Tech and Virginia State are enduring will soon pass,” and “Gyeonggi Province is working to come up with some form of support for Virginia, which we hope to offer in the near future.”

Gyeonggi Province became a sister state to Virginia since 1997, and since then has made great efforts to improve economic cooperation and commerce between the two states.

The following is the letter of condolences.
First, I hope for the quick recovery of all those who were injured, and want to express my sadness for those who have passed away.

I feel deep sadness and grief about the tragic incident that happened at Virginia Tech on April 17th.

I pray for a speedy and complete recovery for all those who were injured.
I am shocked that the person who did this was a Korean resident with a green card, and I feel truly sorry about this. It seems even more tragic to me that this has happened in our sister state, Virginia.

I hope for quick recovery from the damage and suffering that Virginia and Virginia-Tech are going through. Gyeonggi Province is working to come up with some form of support for Virginia, which we hope to offer in the near future.

Once again, I want to offer my deepest sympathy and sorrow to the victims and all others who are hurt from this incident.
I hope that all Americans will heal from this sadness and shock that Americans as soon as possible.
