Gyeonggi Province has announced that Orbotech Korea held a construction ceremony at PyeongTaek Hyungok Foreign Industry Zone, an emerging center of Northeast Asian trading and logistics, on April 18th, at 5 pm.
According to Gyeonggi Province, Orbotech is a TFT-LCD examining equipment manufacturer that has its headquarters in Israel, with annual sales of 380 million dollars and 1,500 employees worldwide. The company was recognized as having the best technology for TFT-LCD examining equipment, and is one of the most well-known companies from Israel.
Significantly, Orbotech has 77% of the world market share as an LCD equipment manufacturer, thanks to their superior technology and quality in TFT-LCD optics examining equipments and PCB manufacture.
Gyeonggi Province had a construction ceremony 9 months after an MOU was contracted in Singapore last June, and 5 months after the initiation of construction.
With this construction that Orbotech has built in Hyeongok, localization in the equipment field is expected to reach a higher level.
On the day of the ceremony, principal governor Kim Moon-soo mentioned, “Greater efforts will be put into developing a supportive environment for foreign companies.” He also stated, “We will try our best to improve present conditions of education, housing, and transportation for foreign residents.”
Gyeonggi Province says that they worked in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Energy to make the construction ceremony possible today.
150 honored guests were in attendance at the ceremony, including principal governor Kim Moon-soo, the Israeli ambassador, Samsung Electronics, members of the Gyeonggi Province assembly, and the president of Orbotech.
Related personnel from Gyeonggi Province said, “Orbotech is the first company from Israel to make an investment contract with Gyeonggi Province and has superior technologies. We will work to induce them to expand their investment, since Israel generally invests relatively smaller amounts than other countries.”
