Gyeonggi Province visitors looked around Lushun Port and “realized” efficiency because the distance is shorter than ground transportation.

Gyeonggi Province visitors, led by Provincial Governor Kim Moon-soo, visited Lushun Port (also known as Port Arthur), Dalian City, Liaoning Province of China on the first day of their visit and inspected the control room of the Train-Ferry.

Provincial Governor Kim said,” After seeing the Train-Ferry, I have realized more strongly the importance of interchange with China.” He also added, “We need to have the trading foundation of the West Sea in order to keep up with the fast growth of China.”
Provincial Governor Kim says, “Now, I really understand how many railway cars that the Train-Ferry carries across the sea after seeing it for myself,” adding that “Connecting China, this greatly growing country, with our West Sea will be a good way to expand interchanges or trading between the two countries.”

At a dinner with Dalian Mayor, Provincial Governor Kim especially emphasized the need to come up with solutions that will connect Korea, China, and Central Asia through the Train-Ferry.

Provincial Governor Kim also exchanged ideas regarding ways to connect the Train-Ferry with ocean freight equipment, environmental solutions when passing through a city, and other possible operating systems for the Train-Ferry.

As well, Provincial Governor Kim and his group took a tour of the railway and connecting ramp, which are both fundamental port equipment dedicated to the Train-Ferry, and took a careful look at the rail connecting system that connects five rails in order to bring railway cars onboard the ferry.
Afterwards, they inspected a lift bridge system that connects the Train-Ferry with ground freight.
During this visit, they confirmed that the Train-Ferry has higher efficiency than ground freight, since it is 1,100km shorter than ground freight.

Visitors also discussed the positives and negatives of a train structure that uses the first floor for trains, the second floor for freight cars, and the third floor for passengers.

The Lushun Port Train-Ferry, designed by Parsa from Germany, can load 50 train carriages and 75 freight cars, and started transporting lumber and food from last November.

The Gyeonggi Province has been trying to connect Pyeungtaek Port with the Chinese Continent through the Train Ferry, and many people are watching with great interest to see if this is actually going to happen.
