Free bus rides will be offered from July to promote delivery and public transportation use
Gyeonggi Province announced on May 14 that it will not charge bus fare for children who are accompanied by adults (up to three children per adult) from July 1.
To enforce the new rule, Gyeonggi Province will revise the agreement of Gyeonggi Bus Association.
An official from the Gyeonggi Province Public Transportation Department said, “This measure is to promote the use of public transportation and delivery. Delivery promotion is a governmental policy. We will expand the free ride benefit from its current level of one child to a maximum of 3 children to support the government?¿?¿?¿??s delivery promotion policy.”
Common Buses, Seat Buses, and Direct Route Buses (Wide-Area Bus) will all offer the new benefit. Currently, bus fare for children under 6 is KRW 450 (bus card or cash).
