Gyeonggi Province held a completion ceremony for the Paju Plant of PS Technology in the Dangdong Area, Munsan High Tech Industrial Complex, an industrial complex located in Paju that is dedicated to foreign investors, at 3:00 PM, May 28th.
In the address at the ceremony, an official from Gyeonggi Province announced that “PS Technology provides recycling, fine cleansing, and surface treatment of several parts used in vacuum equipment, thus increasing the life cycle of such equipment, and contributing to the competitiveness of domestic equipment makers such as Ulvac Korea, and panel makers, the users of vacuum equipment” and added “The Dangong Plant of PS Technology has been built to provide better service to LG.Philips LCD, which is located about 6 kilometers away, and will play a part in creating an LCD cluster in Paju.”
The completion ceremony was joined by about 100 people, including Governor of Gyeonggi Province Kim Moon-soo, Mayor of Paju Yu Hwa-seon, CEO of Ulvac Material, a Japanese investment company, Imachi Gen, CEO of Ulvac Swa Hidenori, and other related organizations and persons, both domestic and international.
In his congratulatory speech, Governor Kim Moo-soo said “I would like to ask Ulvac and Ulvac Material to continuously introduce advanced technologies to Gyeonggi Province, and I will be committed to creating a positive environment for investment, to ensure that foreign investors will not face any difficulties doing business in Gyeonggi Province.”
PS Technology is a joint venture of Ulvac Material Co. Ltd, a Japanese company, and Ulvak Korea Co. Ltd, which was established in July 2004. Ulvak Korea has a primary plant in Hyeongok Local Industrial Complex in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. The Paju Plant, intended as a secondary plant, started construction in October 2006 and is now finally complete.
Ulvac Material Co., Ltd, the Japanese investment partner, is part of Ulvac Group in Japan, and is engaged in the recycling and fine cleansing of vacuum equipment for FPD and semi-conductor manufacturing, and sputtering target business for electronics parts.
Dangdong Complex also accommodates PEG, a manufacturer of glass substrates for LCD, and Kotem, a manufacturer of photo resist for LCD, as well as PS Technology, and is scheduled to house foreign LCD-related companies, with Ulvac Korea planning to build a plant in Dangdong. Furthermore, Sunyoo Complex and the LG subsidiary complex are located nearby, so Paju, which is currently known only as a town near the border, is expected to be reborn as a high-tech display cluster.
Previously, Gyeonggi Province concluded an MOU with Atejuto Co., Ltd in Japan to establish a manufacturing plan for protection tape for LSI (large scale integrated circuit) for FPD. KK Tech co., Ltd, a Japanese company (Kashiyama Co., Ltd) held the completion ceremony of its Anseong Plant on March 15th, and an Israelite company Ovotec co., Ltd held the completion ceremony of its Hyeongok Plant on April 18th. High-tech companies in the field of semi-conductors and displays are rushing to make inroads into Gyeonggi Province.
Ulvak Japan recorded no. 1 revenue worldwide in 2006 among the display equipment companies, with Ulvak Korea, Ulvac Korea Precision, Ulvak Korea Cryo, PS Technology, and UF Tech in Gyeonggi Province.
