Eleven Tons of Gyeonggi Rice will be Sold in 19 Foreign Markets Including Los Angeles, U.S.A.

Gyeonggi rice, reputed as the highest quality agricultural product in Korea, will be exported to the U.S. for the first time. The Gyeonggi provincial government has announced that it signed a contract with Pacific Giant Inc., a U.S. rice wholesaler, to export 11 tons of Super Oning Rice. Super Oning is Pyeongtaek’s unique brand, whose mark is only given to agricultural products grown in an environmentally-friendly manner. The rice will be shipped from Busan Port on 14 June.
Super Oning Rice won U.S. No.1 grade from OMIC (Overseas Merchandise Inspection) in the U.S. Last year, the rice was awarded the best rice for sushi and half-processed rice in the Rice Quality Contest held at the rice processing centers of NACF.
Anjung NACF will price the rice at KRW 30,125 for 4kg, which is higher than domestic price of KRW 12,500. The rice will be sold at 25 to 30 dollars for 4kg in the U.S.
