G-Fair 2007 will be held from September 12th to 15th at KINTEX, located in Ilsan, and it is expected that 250 foreign buyers, 3000 domestic companies, and 30,000 visitors will participate.

Gyeonggi Province announced on September 7th that will be hosting G-Fair 2007, which will serve as a venue for Korean small- and medium-sized companies to market to invited overseas buyers on a one-to-one basis. The fair intends to help Korean SMEs to advance into foreign markets and improve their competitiveness.

G-Fair 2007 is a new name for the event, which has been held under the name “Gyeonggi Venture Fair” on an annual basis since 1998. This renaming of the fair is an attempt to re-brand it as a world-class, international fair rather than a regional one. Gyeonggi Province aims to turn the fair into an international brand. This is expected to give new hopes to SMEs and venture companies, which have been going through management difficulties as they struggle to compete with larger companies.

Following a careful selection process, the province will invite 250 overseas buyers, which Korean SMEs will have the opportunity to market to, on a one-to-one basis. The province will spend more than USD 300 million in export consulting for domestic SMEs, from which it hopes to reap substantial business results.

In addition, in order to boost new business opportunities for major companies, as well as to boost domestic demand, the province will promote consulting between large companies, TV home shopping operators, discount stores and large retailers. Twenty large companies and 200 other companies will be given the opportunity to increase domestic sales and to establish a stable network between them. The province hopes that both large companies and SMEs benefit from this.

Furthermore, a seminar on overseas market strategies will be held from September 12th to 13th. This seminar will provide opportunities to companies that have been facing hardships in terms of advancing into emerging markets. On the 12th, a seminar will be held regarding how to increase web-based sales in Japan, and on the 13th, trade experts on the Middle East, Russia, and Vietnam will give lectures to help companies who are looking to boost their exports to emerging markets.

The fair will provide 150 information and communications booths, 50 creative product booths, 100 general commodities booths, 100 booths for trade and business consulting, and 50 booths for Korea’s battle robot exhibitions. This is intended to provide SMEs and venture companies with a chance to show off their high-tech products and new technologies.

In particular, the EBS battle robot show, to be held during the fair, will showcase Korea’s robot technologies, and give visitors a chance to imagine what their future could look like. Moreover, the fair will hold energy experience opportunities for visitors.
